What singers do you know just by their singing habits?
Julie Andrews - her diction is always over-enunciated; she developed a laziness of speaking certain phrases instead of singing them
Patti LuPone - her diction is always under-enunciated; she developed a laziness of speaking certain phrases instead of singing them
But then paradoxically she also started to over-enunciate words (I had a dreaaaa- MAH).
Bernadette Peters' singing is a bag of idiosyncrasies and mannerisms.
But this is ok, without the uniqueness factor singing voices are boring. All the big stars have distinctive singing voices and mannerisms.
I can hear a Patti-howl from anywhere.
In all seriousness, I totally agree with you qolbinau. I love their habits and they would be extremely boring without them (to me, at least)!
Betty Buckley's voice is very distinct.
Eartha Kitt's voice was too. Both are easily recognizable by there style and pronunciation

promises, this made me laugh.
"Betty Buckley's voice is very distinct."
While I would agree, I think there is a difference between a distinct voice and singing habits.
Nobody sings or sang like Ethel Merman.
There are some good Judy Garland impersonators out there, but listen closely and they almost always fall short.
And at the other end of the spectrum, NOBODY sounds like Lauren Bacall when she sings. Most people don't know how to find those keys. (And I love her on stage.)
she certainly has specific singing habits too- Vocally as well as physically (Those hands!)
