I had tickets for Evening at Talk House today but due to icy weather, I wasn't able to get into the city. I was quite surprised when I called to ask for an exchange for another performance and was told flat out no since I was not a subscriber. I could almost understand that if the run was sold out, but that isn't the case. I have had similar weather issues and both Ticketmaster and Telecharge have exchanged tickets. Is this customary for subscription theatres or just Signature?
First things first: Evening at the Talk House is a production of The New Group, not Signature. They are simply renting one of Signature's spaces. So, the people you should be contacting are the customer service administrators for The New Group. Of course, they are under no obligation to accommodate you--that's why they tell you no refunds or exchanges when you buy your ticket. But if you contact them and politely request to be accommodated, they very well may. Good luck.
Ticket Central was where the ticket was purchased from. They are not opened on Sundays so there was a number on the show's website to call. They identified themselves as Signature Theatre when I called. I understand the no exchange policy but as I posted, the same applies with Ticketmaster and Telecharge and both have exchanged tickets when it was weather related. I will call Ticket Central tomorrow and try for the exchange but the CSR I spoke to today was very unyielding, so I think I won't be seeing this show.
