Awesome! Naomi Wallace is one of America's great underrated talents.
"Impossible is just a big word thrown around by small men who find it easier to live in the world they've been given than to explore the power they have to change it. Impossible is not a fact. It's an opinion. Impossible is not a declaration. It's a dare. Impossible is potential. Impossible is temporary. Impossible is nothing.”
~ Muhammad Ali
I'd really like to see them get back to their "charter" of exploring a single playwright in great depth rather than this scattergun approach they seem to be moving towards of trying to include 5 or 6 playwrights and considering 2 plays as an in depth exploration of a playwright. Having seen plays by most of these playwrights already, this feels like it will be a very hit or miss season.
They are doing 3 plays of both Gurney and Wallace, the 3rd show (a world premiere for both) will be done in the 15-16 season. That seems pretty in depth to me. I like that they have expanded their offerings in their new space.
If I wanted to see Gurney i'd go see the half dozen productions they've done at theater row, apart from the Shepard and Hall plays this is underwhelming.
