Master Harold... Reviews

Pretty much across the board raves. NYT Critics pick. Anyone here see it?

Isherwood on Jim Houghton

A beautiful tribute by Charles Isherwood to the great Jim Houghton, who passed away yesterday.

Lois Smith

A couple nice Lois Smith things online this week - video of her reflecting on her amazing performance in TRIP TO BOUNTIFUL and a NY Times piece.

Bill Heck on ORPHANS HOME CYCLE

Signature continues its 25th Anniversary video series with Bill Heck speaking very movingly about Horton Foote and ORPHANS HOME CYCLE. There is also a funny video of Jo Bonney talking about Lanford Wilson and how he acted like a child during casting sessions.

Adam Driver Talks ANGELS IN AMERICA

Driver was very different than Zach Quinto (different energy and physicality). He really surprised me, I thought he was excellent. Urie too.

Adam Driver Talks ANGELS IN AMERICA

Signature is doing a new video series celebrating their 25th Anniversary. First video is Adam Driver talking about doing Tony Kushner's ANGELS IN AMERICA. New video will be posted every Friday.

Our Lady of Kibeho Reviews

One more rave, from Wall Street Journal

"The most important new play of the year to date."

Our Lady of Kibeho Reviews

Another very positive review from Time Out

"Thrilling. Renews belief in what theater can do: It awakens you into a trance."

WAYSIDE MOTOR INN Trailer

Saw a thread on this a while back, but saw it this weekend and really enjoyed this show. Beautiful stage pictures, great acting, and surprisingly moving. Probably the best thing I saw this summer. They just posted a trailer (link below).
The Wayside Motor Inn

I liked it very much, I thought both the acting and direction were excellent. There were some really gorgeous stage tableaus. There wasn't a lot of action, but I didn't mind that because the subtle dynamics and acting were so fine. I'd recommend it.
AND I AND SILENCE

Last night's show got out right at 9 -- 90 minutes, no intermission. (My idea of perfection.)
IfThen Sept 3 performance

I think Sherie Rene Scott would be a kind of amazing replacement.
AND I AND SILENCE

I saw the second preview last night. It is dark, but incredibly beautiful and very well done, especially for so early. The actors, especially the 2 playing the "older versions" (they are only in their 20's) are fantastic. The show really broke my heart in a very powerful way. And like previous poster said, all tix are $25 -- can't go wrong.
Signature Theatre 2014-15 Gurney & Wallace Season

They are doing 3 plays of both Gurney and Wallace, the 3rd show (a world premiere for both) will be done in the 15-16 season. That seems pretty in depth to me. I like that they have expanded their offerings in their new space.

And a new play by Sam Shepard!
Appropriate

Brantley loves it. So did I.
Trailer for Will Eno's THE OPEN HOUSE

Love this trailer. Loved the show.
KUNG FU Trailer

Signature just posted trailer for the Bruce Lee play KUNG FU by David Henry Hwang. Looks awesome.
New York Times on KUNG FU Choreography

Great piece in today's New York Times about Sonya Tayeh's choreography for the Bruce Lee show KUNG FU. (Great photos too.) Always loved her work on So You Think You Can Dance, I think her work in this show is exemplary.
