"Hollywood Reporter is pretty positive."
You must be reading a different Hollywood Reporter review than the one in your link. Pretty positive it isn't. He likes a few elements and the rest is quite middling. But since you're calling it a "hysterical spoof for the ages" we know where you're coming from.

Posted: 7/22/11 at 7:15pmI wish more artists would engage with critics. At least it's a dialogue, even if it's a lot of name calling in this case.

Apparently so stupid as to not know there are some things you discuss *privately*. Good lord... if I called out a critic like that, I can bet I'd have trouble finding work for a while.

Posted: 7/22/11 at 8:09pmI think that they are keeping it real and I can dig that. They aren't really musical theatre composers...it was originally just a little project on the interweb made strictly for the lols. Unprofessional, yes, but they are still allowed to defend their art and whatnot.

Posted: 7/22/11 at 9:00pmThe thing is they're not defending their art, they're just calling out a critic and attacking him personally. Big difference.

Posted: 7/23/11 at 10:42amSaw the show last night and I agree with much of what Caggiano says. But that Dream Ballet was one of the LMFAO funniest things I have ever seen on the stage. Gattelli's staging throughout was endlessly inventive. Sure the material is pretty puerile, but I'd rather see someone aim low and nail it (well, a lot of it anyway) rather than aim high and miss by a mile, which tends to come off as pretentious.
