Posted: 6/9/14 at 2:02amCuz they're not actually in the show. :) It's normally a smaller number with just the (small) ensemble; at City Center they had a huge local gospel choir, but not the Bway prod. Not sure who all was backing them up tonight.

No they won't be disappointed. It's still a great gospel number - with just fewer people because the stage at the Roundabout is so small, they couldn't fit any more people..and maybe the Tonys felt they would have been swallowed up on the huge Radio City.
But it's still a powerful number and got a huge ovation the night that I saw it. All the regular cast was towards the front of the number. I also think it's cool that Emma Howard, who is the Young Violet's understudy and does not have a "part" in the show... regularly is a part of this number.
