Wow! Last night was my first time seeing Avenue Q and I am shocked as to how I managed to stay away from it for so long. It was pure brilliance! I was falling out of my seat in laughter. The crowd was very respectful for a closing night crowd. They supported very loudly, but as soon as the actors were ready to move on the crowd would stop in sync. The cast was fantastic. I thought Rob was great and I couldn't imagine anyone but Ann in that role. The actors managed to stay in character without any signs of sadness until "For Now." Great night of theatre and it was very neat to see the creative team and others that have been involved with the show throughout the years. I think everyone was in complete shock when they made the announcement about NWS. Good for them! I'll hopefully be able to see it off Broadway now!

Oy, seeing "Bye Bye Birdie" before Avenue Q made Avenue Q that much better. I agree that you can't really judge a show so early on from previews, but even if this show improved a lot, it still would be a poorly done production. Allie Trim was great, but besides that everything else really fell flat. From the weak sounding orchestra to technical mistakes it was just painful to sit through. I expect technical problems in previews, but there should at least be some sense of character developed by the actors. Stamos and Gershon unfortunately failed to do so. To put a positive spin on it, the show was cute and it seemed like the audience was having a great time. Great sets, lighting, costumes. And I LOVE the new theatre. The audience was SO badly behaved. I had the most ridiculous woman sitting next to me. Who literally talked through the whole overture until I looked and her and told her to stop for which I received a dirty look. Then she proceeded to sing throughout a good amount of the song. During lot of livin, she was literally dancing with her big hair and arms bouncing in and out of her seat. I looked and her and said, "You NEED to stop. Her friend looked at me and scolded me. A lady from behind me reached over and tapped her on the shoulder and she threw the hand off and shouted Don't f*&(^)(*& touch me!" During silence on stage. Just awful behavior!

Broadway on Broadway was great. It was my first year going. I overslept and missed my train and therefore did not get a great spot, but it was still fun to be there. In the Heights was great! Their performance really shown through. More of my favorites included Rock of Ages (first time the audience really got going/ also last song. haha), Ragtime (looks great! Beautiful voices!) and Hair was great! I've been really looking forward to Fela, but the performance yesterday didn't really go over well. Loved the confetti!

Overall, a great "dream" day!

I agree with what you said about the BYE BYE BIRDIE audience. Awful. There was a couple seated in front of me, and I honestly have no idea why they paid the money to go see the show. They spent more time talking, cuddling, and kissing than they did paying attention.

I had a lot of fun at BIRDIE, even if it wasn't a great production. Matt Doyle and Allie Trimm were both lovely and are very talented young performers, and I happened to love Jayne Houdyshell (others on here didn't). Stamos and Gershon weren't as bad as everyone made them out to be, but neither really nailed their respective roles. I didn't like the design as much as you did; I found the costumes irritating and the sets flat. I did like the train that ran across the stage, though.

And, funny, I overslept and got to Broadway on Broadway late too. I also loved RAGTIME and IN THE HEIGHTS (as well as SHREK and NEXT TO NORMAL) and thought FELA was disappointing.

I'm glad you had a great day!

The ridiculous part was that two ushers were sitting behind me and did nothing except thank me for trying to help.

Who in the Q cast was visibly getting emotional during "For Now"? It definitely sounded like Rob McClure was during his final line. Anyone else?
