Singing "Some where over the rainbow"
#0Singing "Some where over the rainbow"
Posted: 7/3/05 at 9:53pmHi, I know that a lot of songs are associated with the people that sing them, and I know that this is one of them so I have just a few questions. 1) Is this song definitley a bad choice for auditions? And 2) Is the song mainly to be sung by an alto since it is lower and deeper? Thanks

1) Yes. You'll automatically be associated with Judy Garland. Unless you can blow her out of the water, I'd say don't try.
2) You can always transpose music.

Posted: 7/3/05 at 9:59pmTo me, "Somewhere" is a song that can go either way. I've heard a Korean singer (male) do it and it was just gorgeous. I've heard Judy's and it was gorgeous. I've heard a sopranist do it, and it was gorgeous. That's the situation for any song. Do it well, and it doesn't matter if you're a alto, soprano, tenor, baritone, whatever.

Posted: 7/3/05 at 10:35pmTechnically, it's spelled correctly. It's just spaced incorrectly.
