Can anyone recommend any good books on singing technique?
"Basics of Singing" by Jan Schmidt has folk, arias, and musical theatre songs, plus eight chapters of musical and singing technique.
Is it possible to learn how to sing from reading a book? I take singing lessons, and one of the things my singing teacher does is look at how I breathe, how I open my mouth etc. It's a bit difficult for a book to do that :-/
Well I wanna get back into voice lessons, but if I can't right now I want some type of tool to help me.
I'm not saying that the best way to learn how to sing is from a book, but my voice teacher reccomended this and it has great songs. Technique is very important and muscle memory is the hardest thing to correct, so I definitely wouldn't reccomend a book over voice lessons. The book has illustrations and warm ups that can be of assistance if one doesn't have a voice teacher. But no, do not learn how to sing from a book.
Um, but what's the book called?
