Can anyone recommend any good books on singing technique?

Posted: 7/31/05 at 5:24pmIs it possible to learn how to sing from reading a book? I take singing lessons, and one of the things my singing teacher does is look at how I breathe, how I open my mouth etc. It's a bit difficult for a book to do that :-/

Posted: 8/1/05 at 9:26amI'm not saying that the best way to learn how to sing is from a book, but my voice teacher reccomended this and it has great songs. Technique is very important and muscle memory is the hardest thing to correct, so I definitely wouldn't reccomend a book over voice lessons. The book has illustrations and warm ups that can be of assistance if one doesn't have a voice teacher. But no, do not learn how to sing from a book.
