Last night I saw Sister Act. I saw it in London this past October.
The changes made since the West End are for the most part really great changes, but one thing really confused me. Near the end of the show when Curtis sends the guys to the convent to get Delores, he hands them wardrobe bags and says, "Put these on". As I recall in London the guys then are dressed as nuns when they go to the convent (or am I wrong?) It seems that's what made the whole door slamming scene so funny. But here they just appeared in the same clothes they had been wearing. So if they cut the idea of putting them in nun's habits, then what was the point of leaving in Curtis handing them the bags and saying "put these on". What am I missing here?

I'm sure they appeared dressed as Nuns albeit briefly. Then I think they were back in their normal clothes before being wheeled off.

If they appeared as nuns in the rapid door chase scene I missed that, but they were definitely back in their street clothes when each one was knocked out and wheeled off.

I definitely remember seeing them in the Nuns outfits on Broadway otherwise I would've found it odd as well because I saw the show 16 times in London. Curtis didn't dress up as the Pope on Broadway though.

I saw the show last night, as well. Only saw it once it London, but I seem to remember that there was more tension between The Mother Superior and Deloris. It seemed to be toned down in this version.

Deloris big gold hooped earing fell of 3 times during the show last night.

Great score and had a great time seeing it again last night.

So did this show fail in London? Or was it set to close when it did? Was it just an a tryout or was it just a flop over there?

Saw it last night too. They were definitely in nun outfits. But extremely briefly.

I only saw her earnings fall off twice...thought that was pretty funny:) I'm very curious to now if that happens often.

I thought it was a fun show but not my favorite of the season.

I remember her earring falling off once in London, Eddie picked it up for her.

Don't suppose you noticed if there were brochures on sale last night?

Sister Act opened in London at the very HUGE London Palladium and ran until October 30, 2010. I won't guess it that made it a financial hit or not, but hardly what I'd call a flop!

I saw it in October of 2010 and I didn't see an empty seat in the house on a Thursday night. The story was it had to close to make room for Wizard of Oz coming in and also because it was getting ready to open in NYC.

So still no definitive answer as to why the guys didn't wear the nuns' costumes -- or why they would have taken them off before being "clobbered"?
