Sit Down Productions?

Hey guys, I just had a question about sit-down productions. You see, Spelling Bee is going to be in Boston for 3 months with it's own cast, but would that be considered a sit-down production because it's not staying for awhile? When I think of sit downs, I think of Wicked in Chicago or Sheer Madness here in Boston. So would shows like Spelling Bee staying in a place for three months with a seperate cast from the tour be considered sit-downs?
P.S. Sorry for the run on :)

I assume it's the same production. I'd call it a "sit down" because it stayed here for several months (since Feb or March I think until Sept 3rd) and it's not the national tour.

I think it's a way to tour the show on a cheaper scale...i.e., setting up extended runs of the show in theater markets and avoiding the Broadway pay-scale. It's probably cheaper this way than the touring production, since they don't have to cover housing or other stipends. They can use the resident production contracts for that particular city, which are much less than what it would be on Broadway. I think this is really the only show that can get away with it. The blocking and choreography aren't too extensive, so rehearsal time is probably minimal.
