Wasn't the last revival of Boys in the Band staged in a penthouse in Chelsea?
Also, about ten years ago a local opera company here in New York presented Puccini's opera Il Tabarro, about a jealous longshoreman and his cheating wife, onboard a berthed tanker and the adjoining dock in Red Hook, Brooklyn. The production was widely praised.

I could see Once being staged in a real Irish bar with a space cordoned off to represent Girl's apartment.

Hamlet has been staged many times over the years at the real Elsinore Castle in Denmark. The castle's actual name is Kronborg Castle; Elsinore is the anglicized name of the surrounding town. Olivier, Geilgud, Christopher Plummer, Derek Jacobi and Jude Law are among those who have played Hamlet at the castle.
