I really enjoyed this book, but thought the movie was underwhelming. Could it ever be a stage play or a musical or is the material just too disjointed?

I enjoyed the film. I think the source material would suffer as a musical in the way Women On The Verge did. There are too many characters, storylines and its so heavily ensconced in the 80s it might too obscure.

The movie was convoluted and overly long. It needed pruning, as would a musical version. Eleanor is a great heroine though.
