Sleeping Beauty Wakes

Posted: 4/5/09 at 8:01amWe drove up to NH last night to see Groovelily do Sleeping Beauty Wakes in concert. Honestly, we're not sure why the show never made it to Broadway - the score is fun, exciting, moving and beautiful (and the band is SO nice). Ironically, they booked a concert in Princeton for later this week which is 10 minutes from my home -- if we weren't on the road all week we'd probably be back to see them again. Highly recommend the concert if you're looking for something relatively cheap and fun to do. Bring extra money if you go - you're going to want the CD.

I'm a Jersey Girl, born and bred...right from your neck of the woods! (Haven't lived there in more than 15 years though.
That being said: what the heck is Sleeping Beauty Wakes?

If I'm not mistaken, it's the "GrooveLily version" of Sleeping Beauty. I loved Striking 12 (their version of "The Little Match Girl") so I'm really looking forward to this CD! April 21!

Posted: 4/5/09 at 10:44pmIt's Groovelily's (who did Striking 12 and A Little Midsummer Night Music) version of Sleeping Beauty, set partly in a sleep deprivation clinic. It's quite extraordinary (and for the record, I have no affiliation with the band other than as a fan).
