Some of these reactions are rediculous. This is not child abuse! It's a very funny story, watch this kid go into theater and become the next Sweeny Todd :)

Geez,...well, then, would that not get you into court for "endagering the welfare of a minor"? After all, this was a 6 year old! (irony...)
I would have turned his head around so he could not see the "innapropriate" scenes (truth), not just cover the eyes.
"However", I have a friend (male), whose Dad took him to see "Apocalypse Now" at age ten, and he is the mildest, nicest, well adjusted guy...SO FAR (could not resist that last comment
Honestly, he IS.
So, the moral of the story, NOT everything affects people the same way, but really, be careful with little ones...

Oh, trust me, after the blasphemy that was the new Indiana Jones movie, Sweeney Todd will look like Barney & Friends.
Cute story, though...
well, when I was a child I saw the movie West Side Story and pretended to be Maria, singing I Feel Pretty and it didn't effect me, - oh wait - never mind!!

Can you explain to me the advantages of turning his head around over covering his eyes?
Just to clarify the kid I was talking about was 8; the kid in the video morosco linked was 6. They’re two different kids.
I love the kid in the videos little Thriller dance at :45.

What I meant was: Most people do try to peek through fingers, when someone covers their eyes, so turning their heads would be most effective...(?)
Thanks for clarifying, I am now going to read your post again, in case I overlooked something :I
I'm back: Sorry, I was tired when I answeared your post, and got confused after reading morosco's post...
8, it is!

And he wasn’t trying to peek trust me. He put his head under the covers as soon as the judge walked in. He isn’t bothered by blood, but he doesn’t like seeing blood squirting. :)
That was really funny
I was about 4 years old when the Hearn/Lansbury Sweeney aired on PBS. My parents recorded out and somehow I started watching the tape pretty frequently. My parents love to tell the story of me at 4 running around the house singing City on Fire. I even tried to take the video with me to a sleepover once, but my parents had the sense to put the kabosh on that one.
It had no adverse effect on me whatsoever. I never even went through a phase of torturing bugs. I grew up to be a happily married father of 3 beautiful children who now works with children with disabilities. I'm pretty well adjusted, I'd say.
Take it from a former Sweeney-obsessed child. The kid will be fine.
Heck, I saw the original cast of A CHORUS LINE twice in the summer of 1975 and performed "Dance 10; Looks 3", "Nothing" and "The Music and the Mirror" in my bedroom all the time once the cast recording was released. I was 10 years old.
That should speak for...
... never mind.
