I love, LOVE this show! I have had the dvd for awhile, and none of it ever gets old! This is such a brilliant show! Some of my favorite songs are:
Kansas City
Fools Fall in Love (reprise)
Your the Boss
Iam a Woman and
I Who Have Nothing.

How do you guys like this musical, and what are your favorite songs?

I watched the show for 2 and a half hours waiting for a plot. Then I realized it was a revue, then I didn't like it.

My highschool did the show a few years back, which was a challenge because it's a bit racially challenged (Southern school, what can I say... I think the music is great, but i'm not a revue person. I need a plot. There are some amazing songs in the show, though, and its really great to see people remember the songs they grew up with and get really into it.

I'm thinking of seeing it here in SoCal, as my friend is playing piano...

I did the exact same thing while watching it at a regional theater. I should have done research beforehand, maybe I could have enjoyed it for what it is.

Yeah, that's the problem with some revues -- if you don't realize what it is, you'll sit there frustrated!

This was my first Broadway show when our 5th grade field trip was to go to New York City to see a Broadway show, then go to the Baltimore Aquarium.

I didn't know what Broadway was - until the next year in 6th grade, when our school musical was Bye Bye Birdie.

"The Spectacle has, indeed, an emotional attraction of its own, but, of all the parts, it is the least artistic, and connected least with the art of poetry. For the power of Tragedy, we may be sure, is felt even apart from representation and actors. Besides, the production of spectacular effects depends more on the art of the stage machinist than on that of the poet."

When we did it (and I mention again, we were an almost all-white highschool in TN) I did most of the BJ stuff. We got rights to work with the show a bit and create a bit of a storyline, so some of the songs were cut and some other Leiber/Stohler songs were added in (such as the actual song Smokey Joe's Cafe, which was cut in the Broadway show). We also expanded the cast and made some big group numbers out of songs like Jailhouse Rock and Stand By Me. Since my school was all-girls and the all-boys school from across the river came over to do shows, we had waaaay too many girls in the cast, so Woman ended up being a BIG number. It was fun, but I really missed doing a show with a written book.

Yep, like Movin' Out a lot of great songs and fun "concert"! The original Bd'w cast was outstanding... Brenda Braxton, Frederick B. Owens( both, hot!), BJ Crosby etc. The final performance DVD (with Matt Bogart!) is special too. Love BJ's final offering of " Fools Fall in Love". Rent it!

Speaking of BJ, we are producing "An Evening of Jazz Blue Ballads and More" with BJ Crosby & Danny Zolli (JCS) and more at the Eastern PAC Feb. 11, 2006. More details as we get closer.
**shamless plug, but it will be a blast**

correction in place, thanks!

I also love that final rendetion. It is touching. But I believe the song is called "Folls Fall in Love" (reprise)

And I also love the song "Falling".

It took 2 and a half hours to realise it was a revue?! Are you serious?

I didn't really care for this show, I felt it would have been much better in an intimate space as a cabaret - it was too overblown for what it was.

Really, I disagree...It was very well recieved as a bigger show.
