ain't that the sad truth. Btw, if the actor has it in their contract to be out and/or have a vacation, technically, the person is missing a show but not in the traditional, "hey, what's wrong with so and so, I came all the way to (insert show name here) show to specifically see (insert actors name here) way." I say, who cares?

I don't think it's creepy. If we're going to complain about actors who constantly miss shows, what's wrong with comending those who rarely do?

Oh, and I almost forgot to mention...I'm the good cop, he's the bad cop.

Wait isn't Benanti known for having a pretty bad attendance record?

She was for THE WEDDING SINGER but nothing else, I don't think.

I agree with Audra McDonald. She's a trooper.

Hugh Jackman didn't miss a performance in his over 350 performances of TBFO.

Shaun Earl.

Not sure if this is a good thing, though.

Individually monitoring and tracking a performer's attendance might be labeled "creepy", but what is the problem with naming performers whose avid commitment and attendance record are known and commented on in the industry?

For example: Harvey Fierstein (who I'm surprised no one has mentioned). I remember after buying tickets to see "Hairspray" in May of 2003, commenting to a friend how saddened I would be if we got to the show and Harvey was out (we were aching to see his much-lauded turn as Edna). His response: "Are you kidding?! Harvey never misses shows. He'll be there."

And it's true. The reason it's known is because it's been publicly commented on repeatedly. There are articles/interviews with him that mention it. He's just one of several Broadway performers who are known to be particularly serious about not missing performances.

And unless I'm mistaken, that's all the original poster was inquiring about.

H.Higgins, I mentioned Harvey on the first page. And Hairspray didn't open until August 2002. Did you mean 2003?

SNL-

Yes, you sure did! =) My apologies, I just missed it somehow.

And yes, I meant 2003. We bought our tickets that May and saw the show just after the Tonys that year.

The fact is that the producers promote their shows with the cast. Photos and names are included in advertisements and tickets are sold based on that information. This is what makes a performer's attendance record a legitimate subject matter.

do we really need to trot out the old "Laura Benanti and Donna Murphy have SUCH bad attendance" whines again? both had well-documented medical reasons for their absences.

just to clear something up, orfeh did miss at least twice in saturday night fever, and the only reason why I know this is because I saw the show four times and she was out two of them. and theres a ***** floating around with her out as well.
