So, I finally saw In The Heights

As many of you know, I am a big fan of ITH, but I have never seen the show! Mostly because I simply can't afford it and I have tried the lotto more times then I can count! Well, yesterday I finally got lucky!

The show itself was fantastic! It took my expectations and said "Screw you expectations! We're better!", and they were. The entire cast was wonderful, including Marcy Harriel. I couldn't believe it was only her first night. I'd say the only weak link was Carlos Gomez. It seems his voice is in desperate need of a rest. So, I finally saw In The Heights

After the performance I waited at the stage door and was amazed at how generous the cast was coming out and seeing us in the rain (it was really coming down!).

My playbill is full of runny signatures and is soggy and wrinkled from the rain, but I will cherish it forever.

Here is my mini video documentary on the entire experience, including the wet drippy stage door!

Thanks! And yay for you too! re: So, I finally saw In The Heights

Another thing that was cool... when Lin was saying "I hope you're writing this down, I'm gonna test you later" he was looking RIGHT AT ME! I guess I was sitting in the right seat. :)

i saw you at the stage door. this was my first time seeing it too. i was 2 people away from you all the way to the left of the baricade! i watched one of your vids on youtube like the day before i left for NYC and didnt even notice it haha! thats cool that you got lottery and that some of them recognized you at the stage door! i agree marcy was awesome and she was real nice to talk to after. and i could tell his voice was tired or he was sick and they shouldve had someone else go on for him if he has an understudy.

re: So, I finally saw In The Heights

I saw ITH last month for the first time, too.

I have to say that I'm totally a fan of the show now. It looked like it would be a good show, but my expectations were blown away, too.
What a great show! Such high energy. Everyone was spot-on the night we were there. (We had Janet Dacal as Vanessa and Krysta Rodriguez as Nina - both were wonderful) And everyone was super nice at the stagedoor, too. I'm not a teenager, but I was not the only "grown up" waiting around in the cold. Everyone seemed to want to tell Lin and company what a great show it was.

Good for you that you got in!
