Maybe Emily signed on with the idea that this was going to be on Broadway in the future, and she can get back to NYC this way.

Posted: 11/26/04 at 2:57pmYea, Emily recently read as Ursula against Kerry Butler's Ariel. I think that would make a wicked pair! I always imagine Ursula a little older, but I know Emily would kick major tenticles as the sea witch!

Yes, he is...he is a young, new performer.
He wears leather pants and a tight white shirt in the show.

Posted: 12/4/04 at 10:04pmI saw the show today, and thought i was alright. This show just seems like a cheap way for Disney to make a quick buck. During the show, i kept thinking that this show belongs in the theme park, not advertised as something of broadway callibur. Anyways, the voices were all pretty good. The volume seemed to lack a little. There are some boring and titius parts of the show, but there are the fun songs that have a lot of energy. The standout numbers were "A Change in Me" and "Be Our Guest." The only reason why i saw this show was because it was part of my season ticket group. If it wasnt part of it, i wouldnt have bothered to see it.

I have tickets to see this in January. I am not really a huge fan of Disney shows on stage (minus Aida), but I am looking forward to seeing Emily Skinner- still disappointed that I missed her in Side Show.

Saw Emily last night and she seemed very content so this tour may be a good thing for her. :) I'm seeing the show tonight. I'll post what I think later tonight or tomorrow depending on what time I get home tonight.
Who really cares whether or not she's "too good" for a tour-- it doesn't really matter. I agree with Dente in that she's of a much higher caliber of talent than most performers on Bway today and the fact they're working on Bway and she's not says a lot about the state of Broadway at the moment. At least she's working and as I said, she seems content. Whether or not she's happy with it is irrelevant. As a very wise person once told me, happiness can come and go, but as long as your content with your decision, the happiness comes more frequently. So even if being on a national tour isn't ideal, as long as she's content with it, who cares. And millions of little children across the nation can now witness the fabulousness of La Skinner.
In fact I'm going to bring my baby Elena to see her when it comes to Boston... a chance she wouldn't have if it was in NY because I know there's no way her mom would let me take her 7 year old daughter in there.
See, so my baby wins out in the end even if Emily's miserable on a tour and isn't that all that really matters? j/k
By the way, I don't know if this a no, no to be posting and if Emily's reading this and it is, feel free to kill me... but last winter she told me she didn't *want* to do the Broadway thing right now... that she wanted to "mix it up a bit" and she turned down a big musical that she was getting a lot of hassle for. So, judging from that, I'm sure if she *wanted* to be in a show currently running in NYC, she'd have the opportunity.
I think there are a lot of key factors for her deciding to do the tour. I think many of them are ideas that were already listed all rolled up into one. I think we should just respect her decision and not make judgements because it's Disney and/or because it's a revue. Whatever the reason, it's her reason and if it's good enough for her we should let it be.
Just a last note-- has anyone ever considered that she may actually ENJOY Disney? LOL
