Sondheim on Sondheim CD

Has anyone heard if there will be a CD of Sondheim or Sondheim and/or a DVD of the production?

Sondheim on Sondheim CD

No official announcement. Merch people at Studio 54 said it was being worked out.

I'd be shocked if it wasn't. Between PS Classics, Nonsuch, and Cook's DRG (does Williams still have record label?), someone's bound to take it up.

Oh, I really hope there is a CD.

I really want a copy of the William/Cook "Losing My Mind/Not A Day Goes By."

Those samples were just recorded for advertising purposes. It's like the press clips that they film--they record small portions of the show to be used in articles/interviews/ads for the show.

I would love to see this recorded. I think it would be really nice to have a deluxe edition with a bonus DVD that features all the video clips used, as they seem to be the foundation that holds the show together. If not that, it would be nice to have audio recordings of the clips to have on the CD. Judging from the "Epiphany" clip, I think it would be hard to just start the song in the part where Tom Wopat begins singing because the song starts in the video clip.

I'd like to see PBS record this show.

I think it'd be better to film the show instead of actually recording a cast album, as the whole show is based on those video clips..

I'd love to see both happen, to have the cast recording as a companion to the filmed production.

I want all the interview footage. Could care less about them recording an album.

Record labels do put up money IF they think they can turn a profit. I wonder if DECCA wants a Sondheim title. I can easily see, with proper marketing, this disc becoming many people's intro to Sondheim. Nonsuch has a long history with Sondheim too. Maybe they'll add it to their stack of Sondheim discs. I would be shocked if it didn't get recorded in some form or other.
