Sondheim's 'Finishing the Hat' is available for purchase (NO LONGER for pre-order) on Amazon.co.uk, so for those of you who can't wait, who have extra money to spend/saved up for the book, or who like the nicer U.K. cover, here's your chance. I fall into all three categories, so I just bought my copy.
Here's a link!

...Why DOES the UK edition have such a better cover?

No idea, but I think the US one really ought to be better. He IS an American composer/lyricist after all.

Maybe that WILL be the cover of the US edition, but they just never updated the image on Amazon.com? Or am I being hopelessly naive/optimistic?

Now I'm hearing that the UK cover will be used here also, so I'm sort of kicking myself for buying, but I hear it's such a fabulous book that I really don't care. Has anyone scored an advanced copy and can give us any details...

Like who the book is dedicated to (I don't know why this interests me, but I have a semi-bet with someone that it's either Oscar Hammerstein or Hal Prince..I'm thinking Book 2 will be dedicated to Lapine. This book covers the Prince years, next book covers the Lapine years).
Does he ever mention his favorite lyricist? We know it's not Hammerstein. We know he likes DuBose Heyward's work in 'Porgy and Bess', but that's all Heyward wrote for the stage. I've heard Sheldon Harnick is his favorite, but that could be wrong.
Any interesting cut out lyrics or pictures?

God I can't wait! Forgive my blabbering.

I can't wait, neither.

I rarely buy books, but this one's a keeper. Thanks for the 'heads up'!
