Namo, I got flung out of various message-board-type-places for my cult-of-personality-ish way of conducting myself online - or, really, in any conversation. I can't help it! It's planetary! My sun's in my 8th house facing Uranus - you should pardon the expression - in my 2nd. Try it yourself, see how easy it is. Anyway, so I'll try to turn down the volume a little, from here on, which includes not saying, you know, "I was *him*. And I was *him*! And maybe also him." Kisses to you.
Theater-related: Sondheim liked John Doyle's production of COMPANY. Did you? I thought it was kind of lifeless, apart from Raul.

I hated it. I thought it was misguided in every way. And I didn't like Raul Esparza's Bobby either. Completely wrong interpretation of the role.

After8, but did you not love Raul Esparza's "Being Alive?" I think Bobby is unplayable, frankly - there'll never be a there there - but I totally enjoyed Esparza's two big songs, especially the last one.

Actually, I loathed it.

I agree with you that there's not much of a there there. But I've seen actors work with whatever there there is, and do a good job of it: Dean Jones, Larry Kert, and others.

Who are the 4 men in the photograph alawhat posted?
In 'Hey, Mr. Producer!' they use the word 'drag' instead of fag. Are there any examples of any times this is used?
Also, in the 1995 London revival (which opened after the Broadway revival in which this lyric was originally changed) the lyrics remains 'fag'. Anyone know why?
i think sondheim had more creative control in the broadway revival at that time. from what i've heard, he wasnt as heavily involved in the london production. in any case, the "fag" lyric was preferable...
