With School of Rock already coming in next season and Sondheim's new show coming to the public soon, does anyone think it will transfer next season? This would be very exciting to see two of the most beloved composers have a new musical in the same season. Like the good ol' days!
Sondheim Musical
Sounds like you are just trying to stir up competition more than anything. Why do they have to be against each other? Crazy fans always do this.
how often do we get new shows from them? They are the biggest names in contemporary musical theatre and its awesome that they are bringing new shows to broadway. Bucky Builder, you're wack as hell.
and yea because someone who posts something on a broadway chat room is really stiring up the competition...little bitch
"Why do they have to be against each other?" Well, if they are in the same season then they are up against each other for Tony Awards. Aren't you a Broadway Fan?
When exactly is Sondheim's show supposed to be coming? Will it really only take a year? I'd be tremendously happy!
On a side note.. love this sentence in that article: "It's like having Mozart sing to you." about Stephen Sondheim singing and playing the piano.
I won't be surprised if that SOR wasn't a serious Tony contender.

"and yea because someone who posts something on a broadway chat room is really stiring up the competition...little bitch"
Wow. Uncalled for. I'm obviously talking to a child.
Oh and it's *stirring.
I was half kidding around Bucky Builder. Take a chill pill.
Disneybroadwayfan22, what makes you say that? I think it will be great!
Yes clearly I'M the one who needs to chill....
You have so much growing up to do.
lol IM the one who has growing up to do? You're the one who's telling me that I'm trying to stir up competition. If you don't like this post, then ignore it. And i was kidding when i called you a little bitch. I think thats really fun to say
"I think thats really fun to say"
Well of course you do, little boy.
This thread took a turn for the stupid, but it's nice hearing that Sondheim and Ives are working away at it.
It's always ironic that those who mercilessly tell others to "grow up" are in turn the most childish.
It's a fascinating prospect though. There's so much love (and hate) for these two composers, and with the tepid receptions to some of their more recent works it would be interesting to see how they both fare in today's theater atmosphere.
Philly, it will be great and I can't wait to see it, but it's possible for the Tony voters' attitudes be like, "Yawn, another show with kids. Next!"
did you read that Bucky Builder? They think you're childish and stupid
disneybroadwayfan22, you make a good point.
is forum not still coming in? what was last heard about that? it's not original but it's the only sondheim work that has ever recouped on broadway if i remember correctly
Forum has been canceled if I recall correctly
A Little Night Music, Company, Forum, and both Gypsy and West Side Story recouped on Broadway. Sweeney Todd and Into the Woods I believe had the same producers on tour as the Broadway run and recouped then.

Not so. Company and Night Music both recouped.
I would rather see SoR be the star of one season and Sondheim's be the star of the next. Plus we'll hopefully get Waitress and August Rush soon.

When you say Company and Night Music recouped, do you mean the originals or revivals?
What actors have been a part of August Rush?
"You're the one who's telling me that I'm trying to stir up competition."
Doesn't vs. denote a competition? The same thread title with "and" instead of "vs." would have a completely different meaning to me.
Phillypinto
John Doyle is set to direct and I know that Terence Mann has been casted along with a few other actors who's names escape me.
Sorry ** I meant original productions of Sondheim, not revivals, but hooray that they all recouped!
Not all. Sunday in the Park With George, Merrily We Roll Along, Anyone Can Whistle, Passion, Do I Hear a Waltz?, Pacific Overtures, and Follies all flopped on Broadway.
In terms of revivals, the first 2 Gypsy revivals, Forum, A Little Night Music and the 2006 Sweeney Todd recouped
Hater, if they are in the same season they are up against each other for tonys. I was not stirring up anything, just discussing.
