"Only Love" and "Believe" from The Scarlet Pimpernel...this show is full of protection.
"Together Wherever We Go" from Gypsy is sort of supportive.
"Lost In The Darkness" from Jekyll & Hyde...while it's not about lovers, it could be.
"Someone to Watch Over Me" from Oh! Kay/Crazy for You is a song about hoping for protection...

I know this is supposed to be about lovers, but "Look Over There" from La Cage Aux Folles is certainly about protection. Though in the show its context is parent and child, it could be applied to any loving, protecting relationship.
At a stretch, "I'd Do Anything" from Oliver!.
