Just wondering.....
I noticed there are no pictures of Ty Taylor in the CD liner notes. Everyone else's picture appears. I also noticed that his vocals were recorded seprately from the rest of the cast. Does anybody know why this is? Just curious!
Ty is not on the recording. There was another post talking about this, search for it, I think you'll find your answers.
I think Ty had a conflict when they wanted to record it.
It says inside of the CD that his vocals were recorded seperately in another studio on another date. So that must be him and they mixed his vocals in.
No no no. Ty Taylor was not in the original WPA run of the show. Billy Porter played the role. He had conflicts either in scheduling time for the recording or someting to do with his contract and couldn't do it, so they brought in Ty Taylor to do it. That's why there are no production photos of him, because he wasn't in the production, he just recorded the CD.
Thank you bjive2. I Knew Ty was on the CD. The funny thing is that in the liner notes, they talk about Ty onstage. Did he take over for Billy Porter maybe after production photos were done?
I highly doubt it. The show only ran for 28 performances or something very short like that. I may be wrong though. They may just be talking about Ty onstage in general, just as a performer, and not in the actual show. But if he went on for Porter, you would think they had production photos of him if they knew he would be doing the recording.
Well they talk about Ty appearing onstage bound in a chair to sing "King of the World". It is in the liner notes with the description of the show and the set. Written by the composer I think.
Billy Porter is mentioned in the special thank you's but the liner notes make it sound as if Ty actually performed onstage.
Hmm, I honestly have no idea. I've lost my liner notes for the show. If he was the understudy, he was crazy good. Why hasn't he done anything since?
