The CD is mixed in my opinion. There are some terrific numbers ("I'm Not Afraid of Anything") and some very unmemorable pieces but the good ones are worth the price.

I think overall, yes, it's worth it. I think it's worth it alone for the opening track, Sarayuba Santa, Just One Step, etc.. there's loads of good ones.

If you fall in love with SFANW, you defintley should get Lauren Kennedy's solo album. Some of the songs are from SFANW and they get the full orchestration treatment.

SFANW is full of incredible songs, especially the opening number, I'm Not Afraid of Anything, She Cries, Christmas Lullaby - and Stars And the Moon is one of the most touching songs you will ever hear.

"Stars and the Moon" is like one of my ultimate favorite songs.
Oh and yeah how is that album of Lauren Kennedy's? I've had it on my save for later list at amazon.com forever. I cant get enough of Jason Robert Brown.

The Lauren Kennedy album is terrific. Every track is a joy, especially "I'd Give It All For You" in duet with JRB himself, "When You Come Home To Me" (an expanded version of a little verse from a song in "The Last Five Years" with a lovely jazzy arrangement) and the awesome "Letting You Go", which ranks amongst JRB's very best songs. (Therte is an excellent performance of this song on Philip Quast's "Live at the Donmar" CD too.)

I believe the songs Ty Taylor sings were originally sung by Billy Porter, but Billy couldn't do the CD for some reason so he filled in. The Lauren Kennedy is worth having just for the last song "Flying Home". She belts the hell out of it. Even Jason said in the CD booklet "This song is finally being sung by a woman the way it should be."

The Philip Quast CD is great. Combined with songs from musicals he has starred in ("Some Enchanted Evening" from "South Pacific", "Finishing The Hat" from "Sunday In Tha Park With George"), there are songs by William Finn, Bruce Springsteen, Frank Wildhorn, Sting, Kurt Weill, Stephen Schwartz and a world premiere recording of a song "I Was Here" by Flaherty and Ahrens. I particularly love his rendition of Craig Carnelia's "What You'd Call A Dream".
