Songs for a New World in NJ

I just got back from ABCD's production of Songs for a New World at George Street Playhouse (just an hour away from the city by train) in NJ. It was wonderful! The cast is made up of 6 incredibly talented actors, including Liz McCartney (who is pregnant and fabulous!) and Barbara Walsh. I feel like I just witnessed a best kept secret, because the theatre wasn't nearly as full as it should be and as this production deserves. It's a beautiful staging of Jason Robert Brown's incredible musical with a superb cast. I've always loved listening to the CD, but tonight I heard lyrics for the first time, realized the emotion behind the songs, and came to understand how they all thread together.
