I'm sorry but Barbara Walsh is just not right for this show... or for any, it seems. It's hard for a performance of "Holding To The Ground" from FALSETTOS to not elicit a tear from me, but hers left me completely cold. I cannot tell you how much it saddens me that she will be playing Joanne in the COMPANY revival. I'm just NOT a fan of hers. I wish Lupone would do it... even if for only a limited run. This is one Sondheim role I'd really like to see her tackle, even if it is a decidedly smaller role than Fosca/Mrs. Lovett/Cora as far as the Sondheim canon goes.
Ah, well.

I just got back from the show.
I'm listening to the CD right now, I thought it was good for the most part. The women were clearly the stronger part of the show. I thought Jack Donohue was a good actor, his songs came across well and I enjoyed him. Arthur Marks was okay, I wish his falsetto didn't sound so hollow when he would switch into it. The other guy creeped me out, David Rappaport. I didn't like his songs very much.
The women. Sooooo good. This was my first time seeing Liz McCartney, she was so good. Heather Ayers was great, she looked like Lori Loughlin a lot, the woman who played Aunt Becky on Full House, lol. I liked her voice a whole bunch. My favorite part of the show was Barbara Walsh, who sang "Stars and the Moon". She was great, I just loved the way she carried herself tonight. Great singing, solid acting, and a good presence all around. Draws you right into her while she's singing.
It was a fun evening, my first show at the George St. Playhouse, so that was also a good time for me.

#13Question??

I haven't been to the George Street in a while but I want to get tickets for this Friday (since I love this show). I have one question though. When I try to book tickets online it only offers general admission tix.
Is the whole theatre general admission or is there a certain section that is gen admission and the rest is reserved?
Can anyone who has seen the show already help me out. Thanks.
