Posted: 1/29/04 at 8:26pmJust a thought...does anyone have any songs and/or lyrics from a Broadway musical that they feel applied to them or their life? I just thought it might be interesting to see what people's responses to this would be. I'm gonna have to think about this as far as my life goes....

Mine has to be Defying Gravity. More like Defying Tuition. College costs so much.
That's great Mr. Roxy. My answering machine is a take from Wicked's opening number. "It's Good to hear me isn't it? No need to respond. That was rhetorical but if you leave a message, I couldn't be happier than to respond to it. Have an Ozmapolitan Day."

Posted: 1/30/04 at 10:02amAfter a particularly painful breakup, Maltby and Shire's "I Don't Remember Christmas" became my mantra. I'd sing it to myself as I was walking in the Village. That was many moons ago.

My "theme song" is "Some People" from Gypsy. I just think that scenario and song fully represent my life right now.

Oh well see now we are talking about songs when things happen in our life.
When something bad happens to me.
I sing... "It Sucks to Be Me" from Avenue Q

ok..to get deep for a second and i cant believe im sharing this with strangers... Who Will Love Me As I Am from SideShow.
When I saw this number in the show I emotionally lost it and was sobbing uncontrollably.
When I was growing up and knew I was "different" I was scared of growing up alone and being alone. Not knowing what the "difference" in me really was, I was scared to let my feelings be known so I put on a brave front even though I was dying inside. I mean how many 8 yr olds do you know that want to die just so no one will find out they are different than others? Of course, I grew older and finally understood my difference was that I was gay. I felt I would grow up being alone.
Fortunately, I realized that while my difference existed, I wouldnt have to be alone in life because there were others out there like me. I wasn't the only one.
But still, when I hear the song, the feelings I felt as a child resurface and it brings back a lot of memories.

Posted: 1/30/04 at 10:44amMy "theme of life" is "30/90" from Tick Tick Boom. I saw this on the eve of turning the big "3-Oh No"...and it hit home.

When I was younger, it was probably "Corner of the Sky"
A few years later, it was "Out There" from Barnum. More of a "motto" type thing..

I've been singing I'm in Love With a Wonderful Guy now for a little over two years.
If the winds change in this country, I hope to be singing Old-Fashioned Wedding one day.
