Hey, i've got a musical theatre examination coming up and there is a specific request on the syllabus, that a song must be performed with dialogue either leading into the song, during the song or after the song? Can anyone help? Does anyone know of cast recordings that have this sortof dialogue on them or published scripts so i will be able to learn it?? Thanx, please help, i'm desperate!!!!!!!!!

I don't know how it would fit with your range but "Nothing" from A Chorus Line has a little Monologue before it.

Just had a quick listen, i don't like the idea of singing a womens song, it has references to actually being a woman, but thanx anyway!
"Don't Cry Out Loud" from Boy From Oz has a little mid-song monologue. Nothing deep. Just about keeping your feelings private. Dunno how long this needs to be for ya...

What about Frank Shepard Inc. from Merrily We Roll Along? It's a hard song to perform but it is a great song and it has some dialogue, not sure if it's enough.
Putting It Together from Sunday In The Park With George is another one you could use but that one needs other people for the dialogue.
There's also All I Need Is The Girl from the show Gypsy.
Sorry, i soooo skipped over the part about you being a tenor! DOH!
Good luck in your search.

Still need help, please!!!
Somewhere That's Green from Little Shop of Horrors has a short monolouge before it for those female friends of yours. Can't think of any male ones.
Hey wait, don't the male characters in A Chorus Line have brief monologues too? The one guy talks about his parents finding out he's gay and coming to his show (or visa versa), right? Fuzzy memory here.
I don't think that he sings a song after it though.
"Mister Cladwell" from Urinetown has a pretty decent monologue right before it.
