The sting of Raul losing was slightly compensated by the fact that Pierce gave such a great speech...and praising Raul big time within it.

blah blah blah. He should have won. No contest. Would anyone else liked to have seen a switch in the "upset?" I would have loved to see Raul win for best actor and see Audra win for actress. It's not just that I enjoyed her performance more than Ebersole's, it's all the HYPE leading up to the awards, the ASSUMPTION she would win. I mean, on NY1 I don't remember if it was Roma or Diana interviewing her, but they asked her about all the press that she was certain to win, and she didn't even deny it! I mean, we ALL knew she would win, btu she could have been a little demure and at least said "well, the winner hasn't been announced yet, but I'm hopeful."

So cocky.

You can't be "robbed" of an award. You may feel he deserved it, but the voters did not. He was not "robbed" unless there was some sort of cheating going on.

You can certainly be robbed, if the voters were looking at things other than your PERFORMANCE. They wanted to throw something to Curtains, and give it to DHP to keep him around because he's a name that draws people to the show.

They are always looking at the big picture - it's always political. Even if Raul had won, there would have been politics involved.

It's not like someone undeserving walked out with it. DHP is giving a great performance too, AND he's well-loved in the community. Let's leave it at that.

To be robbed of something, you have to be in possession of it in the first place - which Mr. Esparza was not.

It's a shame that some people can't process the fact that a majority opinion just might not agree with theirs. That's going to make for some rocky times through life, I'm afraid.

I still can't get over the fact that he didn't win. I just sat in shock for a good 5 mins after. I have nothing against David Hyde Pierce and I'm sure he is wonderful in Curtains, I'm in England so I have yet to see it yet, but Esparza was just, as David Hyde Pierce said, Amazing!

Well, I for one am looking forward to Esparzas next project and we all know a Tony is def in his future :)

Wasn't Raul not winning an upset? He was the one everyone favored to win (and from his reaction, he favored himself to win, too).

I wanted Raul to win not only for the fact that I felt his performance was the most deserving but It would have been nice to see him finally receive the recognition for all the great work he has done over the years.

Kringas, that's what I meant. The "upset" was in the Actor category (and Raul's face WAS priceless!). I would have liked to see him win, and the upset be in the ACTRESS category, with Audra winning over Ebersole.
