...but I couldn't find anything on this when I did a search.

Anyways, what's everyone's top 10 favorite songs from Broadway/Off-Broadway?

Mine are (trying to limit this to one song per show.):

Stars and the Moon- Songs for a New World
Finishing the Hat- Sunday in the Park with George
Dulcinea- Man of La Mancha
How Can You Describe a Face- Subways are For Sleeping
A Little Fall of Rain- Les Miz
Look Over There- La Cage
Love to Me- Light in the Piazza
Where Do I Go?- HAIR
Some Girls- Once on this Island
The Next Ten Minutes- The Last Five Years

Pretty is what changes. What the eye arranges is what is beautiful.

Well, the first of those links is 'What Songs Should MT Actors Know', which sounds very much like a "best" thread whereas this one is a "favourite" thread (and if you need me to explain the difference, then we're going to have problems...), and the second of those links hasn't been posted in for eleven months. And you're kidding with the last one, right? '5 Favourite Songs from Rent'? SO not the same.

Besides, my list of top ten showtunes changes CONSTANTLY; this isn't a facts thread that's just going to regurgitate the same info over and over, it's an opinions thread, and those DO change.

Let's see if I can actually work out a top ten... and yes, let's leave it as one per show, should make it easier.

My Current Top Ten Favourite Songs From Broadway Or Off-Broadway (in order of remembering, not order of preference)

1. 'Git Comfortable' - 'Floyd Collins'
2. 'Nobody Needs To Know' - 'The Last Five Years'
3. 'Benny's Dispatch' - 'In The Heights'
4. 'Putting It Together' - 'Sunday In The Park With George'
5. 'This Nearly Was Mine' - 'South Pacific'
6. 'Man Of La Mancha (I, Don Quixote)' - 'Man Of La Mancha'
7. 'I Need To Know' - 'Jekyll & Hyde' (although did this song ever make it to Broadway? I know they cut it at some point, which was stupid, 'cos it's my favourite "I want" song ever)
8. 'What You Own' - 'Rent'
9. 'I Hate The Bus' - 'Caroline, Or Change'
10. 'Funny' - 'City Of Angels'

Thank you iPod for helping me work that out! ^_^

My current top ten (also in order of remembering, not preference):

1. 'The Happy Time' - The Happy Time
2. 'Sweet Liberty' - Jane Eyre
3. 'Find Your Grail' - Spamalot
4. 'Unworthy of Your Love' - Assassins
5. 'She Was There' - Scarlet Pimpernel
6. 'Where You Are' - Kiss of the Spider Woman
7. 'I Know Him So Well' - Chess
8. 'Happy to Be Nineteen' - Kat and the Kings
9. 'You Can't Stop the Beat' - Hairspray
10. 'Empty Chairs at Empty Tables' - Les Miserables

I'm not positive, but I don't think "I Need to Know" ever made it to broadway. "The Day the Sun Stood Still" from The Civil War would have been on my list, but that too was cut way before the show got to broadway. I find that I usually like the original song list of Wildhorn's shows more than the final (if there ever is such a thing with him) versions.
