does anybody know the instrumentation for the current production of Sound of music?

If you're thinking of the 1998 revival orchestrated by Bruce Coughlin, then the orchestration is like this:
(I can't be too sure about the reed doublings, but it's the best I can do)
Violin I-II
Viola
Cello
Bass
Reed I (Flute/Piccolo/Recorder)
Reed II (Flute/Recorder/Clarinet)
Reed III (Clarinets)
Reed IV (Oboe/English Horn)
Reed V (Bassoon/Clarinet)
Trumpet I-II
Trombone
Bass Trombone/Tuba
French Horn I-II
Guitar/Mandolin/Zither/Autoharp
Keyboard/Accordion
Percussion
OOHHH, sorry. I thought you meant the most RECENT production. You want the current? Sorry, I don't know the orchestrations to that yet.
yeah the london production... i want to see how badly they've cut it down...
What makes you think they cut down the orchestra?
from what I've seen and heard, the orchestrations are gorgeous for this show. Andrew Lloyd Webber is good at stuff like that!!
I agree with you. I watched a video of the bows and the orchestra sounded great. He had a good sized one for EVITA. So I see no reason to cut down the orchestra for SOM.
Yours,
Carolyn
true ALW is really good to us musicians, but i cant imagine that they would have the same size orchestra they had with the OBC

WHOOPS!!! I made a boo-boo.
I just was on the new SOUND OF MUSIC website, and I see it is the original Robert Russell Bennett orchestrations and Trude Rittman arrangements from 1959.
I'm going to hear the orchestra right now and hear how it sounds.
Awsome... mabye this will be one show with a decent size orchestra!
