I watched the South Pacific Live at Lincoln Center and I truly enjoyed this show. The orchestra and the full cast are amazing. Paulo and Kelli O'Hara are excellent singers and actors. I understand that the actor (Andrew Samonsky) who played Lt. Cable was an understudy. 'Must say that his singing is excellent and he is also a very good dramatic actor. I cannot get tired listening to him sing and looking at him ( he is "damn saxy lootelan"). Anyway, I hope to see more of him as a leading man in future broadway shows.

He wasn't the understudy.

He was the understudy when the production first opened, but by the time of the broadcast, he had been promoted to playing the role full-time.

Why else would you post this well over a month since SOUTH PACIFIC aired?

Hello- you asked "why only now?" . Truth be told, this is my first time to participate in this type of live discussion thru the internet. When the South Pacific Live at Lincoln Center was aired sometime in August 23 I was still employed, so I just recorded this on my DVD. I am now unemployed (due to downsizing/ no regrets!) so I had the chance to see the show again, at a later date. And I loved it more the 2nd time around -especially Andrew Samonsky- I think he has a marvelous voice and good dramatic acting too- loved him in both scenes in My Girl Back Home and Younger than Springtime. I "googled" to find out if anybody shares my enthusiasm for South Pacific's Lt.Cable (Andrew Samonsky). I found out, some like him and some don't! Well, that's life- can't please everyone. Anyway. THANK YOU for responding to my initial message! I'm just thrilled that others actually read it- APPARENTLY :)

You're very correct " still processing the closing night" ! I'm still at awe even up to this time. I still watch this show everyday - that's how much I enjoyed this show's music. I think I'll pass this on to the next generation. =:) Thanks for your comments!
