I have always been a big fan of the show itself and an even bigger fan of the movie.
For those who havnt seen the movie it opened up to Box office success and Critical acclaim and consists of some of the funniest, most entertaining songs I have ever heard.
My question (to those who actually have seen The Movie!) do you think a adaptation of the Movie would be good enough to see on Broadway?
Or would South Parks "controversial" subject matter not work to the theater audiences??

The movie is so goddamn funny.
It would never work. Unlike a piece like THE LION KING, the voices and characters in SOUTH PARK are far too distinct to be replicated by anyone other than the people who do them now.
It would never work in terms of staging. Part of what makes South Park appealing is its "cheap" animation style. I'd much rather see the Mormon musical that Parker and Stone were working on with Robert Lopez.
That being said, did any of you catch the new episode last Wednesday? It's worth seeing for theatre fans. It also includes a parody of "Nothing" from A Chorus Line.

The past 2 episodes have also been really funny.
I know it would never work, but I'd give an arm and a leg to see this onstage.
Ah. Im both a Wrestling Fan and a Theater fan so I loved the entire episode and all the refrences =)
South Park still proves they still have "it" every season.
But I understand what your saying Yankee about the Voices.
Characters like Cartman, Chef, Sadam, etc all have voices that regular fans would be upset with (no matter how good any actor was at them).
Its just a shame cause the plot and music are all right their (All that would be needed to do is call Matt and Trey and ask if they could right a few reprises and such to give the score a few more songs)
I would love to see "La Resistance" Performed by a cast =P

You know that it's good when Stephen f*cking Sondheim said that it has the best score of the 90's.
A live version was performed at Penn State last year.
