Just wondering if anyone who's seen Spamalot thus far has found the stage door and successfully met Tim Curry? It's been a lifetime goal for me for five years now, and I'd be grateful for any prior knowledge to be had before I go April 23rd.

yes! In fact, I waited yesterday before the show. He didn't come in a car, just walking down to the theater in a parka. (the stage door is in shubert alley, right next to the giant poster for Dirty Rotten Scoundrels. Tim is such a gracious man and was so happy to sign autographs for me and the other person waiting, who had an "IT" picture for him to sign. David Hyde Pierce, on the other hand..... Yankeefan, what was your experience with david hyde pierce? I met him in chicago, and he seemed gracious, but the picture i took with him is less than flattering. He has this really cold look on his face.

I hear he's very nice....
As I said, I was waiting before the show. He walked by and said "Only after the show please, thank you!" walked in and slammed the door behind him. I wasn't that upset (as I was looking for Curry, Hank Azaria, Eric Idle, and Mike Nichols) but the other guy who was waiting only for Pierce was upset.

i got him too, before the show. he's a blonde now! very nice guy. signed autographs even though he was carrying a large rod.
Thanks, YankeeFan!
BwayTheatre11-That may be, but my mother is impatient and I am disorganized and such. Do not put anything past my directional skills, or hers, when rushing. When I first mentioned waiting at the stage door in order to accomplish that whole lifelong dream scenario, she got sooo mad... I have something to say, though, really... Inadvertently, Mr. Curry inspired me to conquer my Cerebral Palsy... But I won't ramble into that.

YankeeFan~Did you love Spamalot?
i almost saw it but got tix to Q instead...
I remember the stage door too, its for three theatres. Thats where the cast of Avenue Q comes out as well.
...the Spamalot and Avenue Q casts don't come out of the same stagedoor...

After I saw Spamalot, everyone minus Tim Curry and Sara Ramirez came out..sadly, no Tim for me..I hope you get to meet him after/before! :) But Hank Azaria, Chris Seiber, and David H.P were VERY gracious..all very nice :)
Everybody came out when I went last Thursday! I am framing my playbill for sure!
Thank you - I guess I'll wait before the show, then, to be safe... How much earlier, though? I know theatre call for the cast I'm in right now is like 2 hours aforehand, but that might be hard to talk Mumsy into...
I so wish I still lived in NY... maybe I'll stay with my dad and meet Mom closer to showtime... Ramble, ramble, ramble.
I'm going to a Wednesday matinee in May--I'll probably ask this question a lot because I tend to go to lots of matinees, but do some of them at least come out and sign after the matinee?
Having worked with DHP before I can tell you he is one of the nicest people out there. I had dinner accross the table with him while on break and he made it a point to make sure I was having a great time, signing autographs.
Chris Seiber had his hands full with a Rod...
That's too easy...

I passed by the stage door of Spamalot after seeing DRS and the crowd was huge. It looked like chaos was going on over there. Before the show is probably your best bet if you want the chance to really meet them
Yes, it was a joy to meet Christopher Sieber. One of the nicest person I've ever met.
Yeah - definitely, waiting around beforehand, after a recent conference with the female parental unit. She said we'll probably stay overnight in NYC the night before. She really does rock... the 23rd is her birthday, and she basically gave up all celebration rights to my own wants.

It all depends on the show. I'm sure that more than a few cast members will come out after the matinee. If not, go back and wait after the evening performance.
I met Chris Sieber when he was in Chicago.
He is SOOOOO nice.
I walked by the stage door of SPAMALOT last Friday when the performance had ended, and David Hyde Pierce was there, graciously signing everyone's stuff. It was quite remarkable because it was FREEZING outside. He seemed to have made sure everyone had their photo or autograph, said a friendly goodbye and slipped back into the theatre. So when he said he only signs after the show, don't feel taken aback because he really does live up to his word.

They all came out and signed when I went last Thursday night. It was FREEZING, but they made sure to get everyone and were very sweet. Don't be hurt if actors don't chat before a show though....there are so many reasons this could be, and all the actors in this show (including the ever-smiley and gracious Tim Curry) are awesome once their job is over. Hank Azaria was doing voices from The Simpsons. I died. For real.
