re: Spamalot 2010 UK Tour!

I would think that ‘Spamalot – The Monty Python musical’ would have greater audience recognition on the road than ‘The Producers’ did (which, as Dantes says, only did great business with ‘a name’ in the lead), though it seems I’m one of the few people who preferred Spamalot to The Producers – the latter just seemed to be a very hardworking cast trying bludgeon the audience into submission whilst screaming “look how FUNNY this is, isn’t it FUNNY – laugh, goddamn you, it’s FUNNY!!”. But that’s just me re: Spamalot 2010 UK Tour!

And I have no comment to make on Wicked at all!

haha I had the same feeling of Spamalot that you had of The Producers (which I really liked). I do agree though Spamalot has more name recognition than The Producers

This is one tour i will be giving a HUGE miss to!
In it's final weeks in London, I got one of the £1 tickets, and even with the price at £1, it is still the ONLY show that I left at Interval for!

Don't let him hear you saying that!

He actually extended his contract by an extra three months until the show closed.

And yet I managed to miss him twice.

I think producers everywhere over estimate the appeal of this show. Here in Australia it was expected to do fabulous business but died a death after a few months.

re: Spamalot 2010 UK Tour!

I am NOT a huge Monty Python fan by any stretch of the imagination, but Spamalot (esp with its original Broadway cast) made me laugh more than any show I'd seen for years. And I think its score is hugely under-rated - there are some real gems in there, parodies or not.

Don't let the MP tag put you off!
Seen some shows in my time....
