Posted: 6/7/05 at 9:35pmHank Azaria is, I believe, returning around Thanksgiving. Tim Curry, David Hyde Pierce and probably the featured players are contracted through December 21st.

John Bolton was GREAT as Azaria/Tudyk's understudy. I had seen Azaria perform the role in previews and love him and I was VERY impressed with John's performance. The audience loved him.
VERY different than the response for Sara's understudy.
Also, he threw in this great line as the Knight of Ni.. I don't remember it fully but something like- "I'm not the guy from the Simpsons, he's gone for a while" and Curry and Hyde-Pierce were cracking up.. everyone was laughing for a while. It was priceless.
Ps. Why would Alan not be in on his first day? Could he not be ready? Is that possible?

I'm seeing Spam again on July 19th and I'm bringing a friend with me and I hope that by then, Ramirez is in and Tudyk as well. My friend that's coming, I had first said that we might be seeing Robin Williams, but when I told him that it was Alan Tudyk, he was disappointed by it.

It's more than just looking for some mug, it's a metaphor. We must find the grail, in ourselves. Somebody swallowed it? No, it's a symbol(cymbal crash)."

Posted: 6/8/05 at 5:49pmSame, I am going July 20th and told my grandmom we might see Robin, and she got disappointed. Once I explained who Alan is, she got over it and enjoyed who they picked.

Posted: 6/9/05 at 12:03pmI was at the show last night (Wed) and Bolton was still filling in. I thought he did very well! I also saw him understudy for Tim Curry when I saw the show for the first time a few weeks ago. He did well then too, but I'm such a Curry fanatic I couldn't accept Bolton in the part. My own prejudice.

Posted: 6/13/05 at 11:16pmI was in the lobby of the Shubert Saturday, and Alan was on the cast list, Hank was not. The only understudy posted was Sara's, and they took that down while I was there.

Don't worry, most people on this board don't know who he is, not to mention the "normal" people.

Posted: 6/15/05 at 10:16pmI went to the show today (Wednesday, 2:00) and Alan was in the role. He was absolutely superb, and fit the role very well. He is certainly an excellent actor. He was also very kind to me when I went looking for autographs after the show! He did a great job.

Posted: 6/15/05 at 11:26pmJohn Bolton stands by for Lancelot too? I saw him as King Arthur and he was excellent. From listening to Tim Curry on the CD, I think I prefer Bolton vocally, at least. And he's cuter. :)

Posted: 6/15/05 at 11:32pmMy friend and I had front row seats for Saturday (I was in A101...yes, that A101) and Alan was superb. We came in missing Hank Azaria, and then my friend goes, Holy SH*T! It's Steve the Pirate! Needless to say, I loved the show, and meeting Alan was very cool.
