re: Speed-the-Plow excitement thread...

Congratulations to Jeremy Piven on his Emmy win!!!!

Elisabeth's probably at the awards, too...I didn't see her, though.

re: Speed-the-Plow excitement thread...

I can't imagine it will be performed with an intermission. On paper, the play's structure almost looks like it's built to have two, but it's so short that I'd be surprised if they had one.

Yay for a third Emmy!

And also, some photos of the theater:

It looks great! And Raúl's really working the suspender look! re: Speed-the-Plow excitement thread...

Finally making it to NYC this year and just bought tickets for one of the preview. Whee, Raul! I debated for a long time between BB center and B right, concerned that the BB seats would be uncomfortable, but ah well. What's a little neck pain?

re: Speed-the-Plow excitement thread...

1) I'm a HUGE fan of Mamet, though I've never read this particular play.
2) I LOVE LOVE LOVE the tag line for this show.
3) The marquee looks amazing, though my favorite is the photograph for the Times article. They look rediculously suave and sexy.

I absolutely cant wait! re: Speed-the-Plow excitement thread...

And Hest, the stage isn't that high, so you should be fine.

Anyone know of there's gonna be rush for this?

Hest882 - having sat at the front of the Barrymore many, many times, I can assure you that there's no need to worry. They're great seats!! re: Speed-the-Plow excitement thread...

I want to go to the box office and ask about rush, but I'm not sure it's open yet. I walked by last week on a weekday afternoon and it was definitely closed. I tried again yesterday evening around 5:30 and it wasn't open then either. It's got to be open soon though, they start in two weeks.

Are people on this thread as excited for American Buffalo? It's the better play...

re: Speed-the-Plow excitement thread...

Thanks Chrysanthemum62001 and luvtheEmcee for reassurance about the seats. Now I'm doubly excited to get so close to Raul. re: Speed-the-Plow excitement thread...

Ken8631, Playbill Club has discounts already, so definitely check it out. The date I wanted only had mezzanine seats though, and I figured if I was flying across the country anyway might as well splurge.

re: Speed-the-Plow excitement thread...

Thanks! Just checked the Playbill discount, orch is only Row O (too far back). Guess I'll have to get the regular price. Are any seats too close in that theatre? Not sure about stage height....

re: Speed-the-Plow excitement thread...

It seems like it would be a hot ticket, so maybe not student rush, but standing room? I'm more excited for this than "American Buffalo" because I care about these actors. The other production - while maybe it's superior - just doesn't excite me, but I'm sure I'll end up seeing it as well.

re: Speed-the-Plow excitement thread...

I don't believe the Barrymore has the capacity for SRO. Most of the shows Jeffrey Richards is currently producing or has produced recently have/had some kind of rush, so hopefully this will too.

Can't wait...can't wait...can't wait.

The outside of the Barrymore looks AWESOME, too.

re: Speed-the-Plow excitement thread...

Guess I'll have to bite the bullet and pay full price at the box office. This looks so exciting -- particularly after having yawned through The Seagull.

re: Speed-the-Plow excitement thread...

I had just purchased my tickets (at full price) the day BEFORE BroadwayBox sends me an email about the $69.50 discount. That tends to happen to me a lot, but I don't mind. SO STOKED! I have this on the 1st and BUFFALO on the 15th! November is Mamet Month for Mike! re: Speed-the-Plow excitement thread...

re: Speed-the-Plow excitement thread...

Best seats with Broadwaybox discount is only Row O - three rows from the back. Not close enough enough for wife....

Full price for me then....
