Posted: 12/25/06 at 5:37pmHi all, MERRY CHRISTMAS! I'm seeing Spelling Bee in Chicago on the 29th, and was just wondering if there was an age limit of the people chosen to go onstage.. and any helpful hints from people who did get the chance. (I know it probably most likely won't happen... but it's worth a shot) Thanks.

Posted: 12/25/06 at 6:33pmI saw it with a 14/15 year old girl who knew all the choreography. To bad she couldn’t spell or she might have lasted longer.

Posted: 12/25/06 at 7:14pmI saw a little girl in boston who couldn't be older than 7
All the lights are misty in the river
In the darkness, the trees are full of starlight
And all I see is him and me forever and forever."

Posted: 12/25/06 at 7:16pmI think you have to be older than 10 to be picked.

They don't pick the same type of look for the shows, because then it wouldn't be different and creative. I love hearing what they come up with, some of the new sentences have been great. This past friday, a sentence about a proctologist caused the rest of the cast on the bleachers to break character and start laughing hysterically.

Posted: 12/25/06 at 7:33pmthere is no age limit. when i went, there was a really diverse group of people (age wise) chosen, and the youngest girl lasted the longest. she was probably 9 or 10! they usually pick people who are really easy to make fun of. enjoy the show!

A woman I saw a few weeks ago had hair that was died half red, half white. Really bizarre.
Peretti said, "Mrs. Kornetsky can't wait to get another bottle of red hair dye so she can finish the job!"
It was hilarious!
