I can't wait to see the responses on this one!
Rent, Avenue Q, and Beauty & the Beast are what we'll see before hand (hopefully).
I've found tickets for Wicked from the partial view or Spelling Bee full view.
You can see one or the other on your last night in NYC: which one do you see?!?!?!
Spelling Bee. Without a doubt. It's such a clever, imaginative show that doesn't hide behind set design and costumes to come off looking "better" than it actually is... I adore it.

One vote spelling bee.
Sorry to keep pestering you guys, but my wife and I agreed that we'd see one show we both wanted to see. She got to pick two and I get to pick one. Ah, married life!
Spelling Bee is a bit ahead on my list and Wicked is a bit ahead on her's, so this very well could be the deciding vote folks!
Both shows are good choices, but having good seats is important to me. So I say "Spelling Bee".

Spelling Bee.
Wicked is touring...and touring. Sooner or later it will come to the proverbial theatre-near-you. Spelling Bee in its current incarnation is in an intimate unique space (3/4 round) and local productions might not be as special.
I'll be different and say Wicked. i haven't seen Spelling bee, but Wicked was enjoyable.
Spelling Bee. I am a fan of Wicked, but Spelling Bee is more fun.
I'm gonna say Wicked too, actually. I'm so indifferent toward Spelling Bee. It's funny, but I think overrated.
Yes, I said it. I like it, but... I don't get the huge hype. At least with Wicked, you get the opposite view of "it's the best thing ever" more often than not.
Another vote for Spelling Bee. It's a fun show, and I'm sure Wicked will be around for longer. Once the hype dies down, it will be easier to get good seats. With Spelling Bee, you're guaranteed a good time.
Spelling Bee. And whoever thinks that Wicked is not over-hyped is slightly delusional.
If that was in response to me, I certainly DO think Wicked is FAR overhyped, and I'm not delusional, thank you. I meant that at least with Wicked, you know what you're getting into because if you haven't heard that Wicked's over-hyped, you've been living under a rock. Spelling Bee is *constantly* raved about, and while it's really good, I just don't get why people love it so much. At least with Wicked, I get why it's so hyped-up. Not saying I agree, just saying I can see the reasoning.
I have seen both multiple times and love them both.
If you are looking for the big flashy sets, costumes, etc, go see Wicked. It's fun, cute, good music (for the most part), and a great broadway experience.
If you'd rather see a smaller scale show that is hysterical, touching, and resonates well with everyone, go see Bee. Plus Bee still has most of the original cast right now, which is a big plus along with the better seats.

It depends what you are in the mood for. Wicked is about 2.5 hrs, and I believe Spelling Bee is shorter. Would you rather see a big musical with flashy sets and costumes, or prefer a smaller intimate evening with less flashy sets and costumes? I know I'm the minority here, but I would see Wicked because it is difficult to get tickets to (even tour), and you can always probably go back and see Spelling Bee another time. Check your PMs though.

Spelling Bee is 1hr, 45min. without an intermission. I would see Spelling Bee for several reasons. Wicked is currently on tour, more or less looking the way it does on Broadway, so you aren't missing anything seeing it on tour. Spelling Bee hasn't launched a tour yet, but it is re-designed for a proscenium stage, and on Broadway it's in a tiny theatre and is dressed specifically for that venue. You will be missing some of the cute designs from Broadway, plus most of the original cast is still in it, and these are people who invented these characters, so the odds are you won't see anyone better in these roles. Spelling Bee is also $15 cheaper than Wicked, and even the worst seat at Spelling Bee is better than the best seat at Wicked. No matter where you sit at Spelling Bee, you can't miss.
Thanks for all the opinions. Spelling Bee still in the lead, btw.

I'd say catch Spelling Bee while you can. Wicked will be around for a long time. Catch Wicked on your next trip because it will probably start dying done one day.
EDIT: If you know when your next trip to NY will be right now, I'd say buy the Wicked tickets for then, now. You will probably be able to get some great seats.

Another vote for Spelling Bee. A brilliant and hilarious piece. Personally, I was more excited to see Wicked and came out feeling it was overhyped. I was still pretty excited to see the Bee and it was AMAZING. Not a weak link in the cast.
