Anyone excited? Or has this been posted?
I'm not sure how this show will work on the road. It is very esoteric, and the intimacy would probably be lost in a large regional house.

To tell you the truth, there a lot of shows that are planning to tour that I don't see how they will work...
BKLYN will flop on tour. It's for a directed audience. New Yorkers. Spelling Bee will excel on tour for sure. Anyone who's passed the 2nd grade will adore it.

Let's just hope that after it wins the Tony Award for best musical (knock on wood) they don't cancel the national tour in favor of a Vegas sit-down production!
No one is every going to let that die...

I completely disagree. If that were so, then Rent would never have been a hit. Brooklyn is directed for American Idol audiences. I don't believe for a second that only New Yorkers see the show. I have a hard time believing New Yorkers would like it.

RENT is not directed only at New Yorkers. America, as a whole, is familiar enough with New York (thanks to TV and movies) that anyone can get the references made in RENT. BKLYN, also isn't directed at only New Yorkers. There aren't any real references to Brooklyn (other than the word itself as a name of a girl and a borough). It could have taken place in Seattle and still be as confusing, unmemorable, and nonsensical as it is right now.

Pffft, it doesn't matter. It's Tony time...everything goes on tour!
I'm excited!! I just saw Spelling Bee two days ago and am dying to get the CD.
I think that it'll do well, but it will lose the same effect of having it be in a smaller, enclosed space. It felt really intimate, like an actual school gymnasium, and hopefully they can carry that with them on tour.
