Apparently she said C-A, I mean C-O-W but once a letter is spoken you can't take it back, and they had a little mix up with starting pandemonium or do a goodbye song or something.

I was there. She didn't do it on purpose. She obviously knew how to spell cow, but I guess she was nervous and she said "C - A whoops, I mean O! C - O - W." Everyone was shocked, including the cast, and they all sang the line from The Spelling Rules song "...but the sequence of letters already spoken may not be changed." The whole thing mustve messed them up because the next song "Life is Pandemonium" did not start off very well.

Same way they get all audience spellers off stage, Mitch gave her a juice box and a hug and they sang the goodbye song.

I'm just wondering as they start pandemonim music before the person spells the word, so they had to stop that and switch randomly without any cues or knowing who was doing what, I don't know.
And no real names mentioned on the board MissNY! But a certain someone is a little forgetful on the details right now....

Oh my gawd! I wish I had been there. I wonder if they even knew what to do. How do you start Pandamonium after some gets the really easy word wrong. I wonder if that has ever happened to them before. Poor girl... hehehe... I still wish I would've seen that.

Ha ha, when I was there one of the audience members came up to spell their word and asked for a sentence including the word. Within the sentence they actually spelled out the word for her, and then the girl still got it wrong! It was hilarious, but the funniest part is that the judge ad-libbed that there was an alternate spelling that they had just found so she made it to the next round. I don't think she ever realized that she had spelled it incorrectly :)

Is that the 1-800 one? Because they spell it worng on purpose. The guy i saw saw past it and spelled it correctly.

I was playing the show last night (cello, my second time) and Vadim, the music director(piano/conductor) said that's the first oops on cow. That resulted in a slightly confused beginning to Pandemonium as it had always come out of a successful spelling of the easy word. So Chip's "My oh my," came after the end of the goodbye song instead of after the line, "That is correct."
He sang it without much conviction and sort of trailed off at the end as he looked questioningly over at Vadin as if too say, "Is this right?" Interesting moment from a seat in the band, especially it being just my second time and the first was three weeks ago. Aaaaaah, live theater.

Ha... I was there when the guy spelled mexicans wrong...
Jose was all "I know he got it wrong, but didn't the doctor/lawyer guy get mexicans?" which was funny.
But this... this... is the best story ever.

She responded: "LOL. nooooooooooooooo i was like c....a.... and then i was like o crap but they wouldn't let me start again. lolololololololol i got an apple juice from the comfort counselor lol and i got to talk to the actors afterwards...im stoopid lol."
This is actually one of the smartest children that I know (she's at Hunter in NYC). She was just really nervous! And I think the email spelling (and that is how she types on IM) has become so common amongst kids that they don't even know how to spell basic words anymore.

how do they come up with the lines about each audience volunteer, because when i went one got was struck by lightning twice, and was eating gameboard pieces, and the girl that got mexicans favorite show was that so raven(not so weird unless you saw the show and what she looked like)

They pretty much have a bunch of lines prepared and choose the ones that they think will be funniest. Like for an old guy "Mr. So and So lives with his gradmother...there must be some story there." And some kid with a shaggy haircut, "Mr. So and So cuts his own hair."

I saw a blad guy as a speller and they used the hair one.
Most of the times when there are kids they use "*name* recently got lost in their own back yard."
