Saw the show on Thursday evening, not being a real fan of the cd.
What can I say? I don't think I have ever seen a better ACTED musical. How they make you want EVERY kid to win the Bee! Every one was a delight and huge respect to a cast working SO HARD- that's professionalism.
And the book is a delight- I love Olive's line about the silent letters making up 'what?' and her observation that Olive with one switch is 'I love'.
Olive, I loved this show!
I saw the Thursday perf, too! I won the lotto and was in the front bench, where were you?
I was pleasantly surprised at how much I enjoyed both the book and the music. I got the impression that the music wasn't all that great but I've been listening to the cd over and over since yesterday. I loved the entire cast, each one of them. What a great ensemble! It's the most I've laughed all season. I'm going to have to see this again. *listening to "the I love you song"*

I can not for the life of me remember how that "What" line goes - do you happen to remember? I tried so hard to keep it in my head as I left the theatre, but it vanished by the time I got back to my room...
It may just be one of my favorite lines from a show!

She says "I'm wondering whether flagellate has one L or two. And how if you took the w in answer, the h in ghost, the extra a in aardvark, and the t in listen you could keep saying what but no one would hear you because the whole word would be silent"

You are welcome. I remember the quote because
(a.) I have seen that show waaaaaaayyyyyy too many times (but I love it so it's ok)
(b.) It's my favorite quote as well (that and "I love to laugh, I love to spell, I love to never hear the bell").
Glad I could help.
I loved this show sooooooo much. Each character is so individual. You actually, in such a short time, love them.
I saw this show for the first time last week, and enjoyed it immensely. I think the score is just fantastic, and I've been unable to get "The I Love You Song" out of my head, it's so poignantly beautiful. The performances were excellent. My seat was on the right side, beside the orchestra, but, being a musician, I didn't the proximity to Mr. Feichtner and company. I found myself reading the cellist's music every now and then. And although the show played to the center, I never felt that I had a bad seat.
I think one of the funniest moments of the show was when, during "I Speak Six Languages", Marcy pushes Vadim Feichtner off the piano bench, and shows that in addition to her other many talents, she's also a gifted pianist, accompanying herself as she sang.
