Well, I was one of the few who really wanted the Batman musical to happen.
So I suppose it would be unfair of me to say that this is a stupid idea. Especially since I know I'd pay to see it.
...still, seems kinda like a stupid idea.

I really enjoy what little I've come across of the 'Batman' musical, and I'm a strong believer in both 1) don't knock it until you've tried it and 2) with a good creative team you can turn ANYTHING into a musical. I'd pay to see a 'Spider-Man' musical. Not sure the majority would agree with me though. XD

Posted: 4/16/07 at 2:24pmI have to say, I REALLY don't like the idea of this mythical Spider Lady being involved in the plot...was she ever part of the comics?

Posted: 4/16/07 at 2:40pmGood lord people, take a chill pill. There are several great musical that came from unconventional source material. From all reports, it dosen't strike me as a Marketing Musical (i.e. TWS, LB). It seems to me that its an honest artistic attempt, and if so, let them take a crack at it. Thanks for the back up you guys, (Weez, et al).

Posted: 4/16/07 at 3:25pmI really think they have a neat idea there with four nerds telling the story like they are experts. If you've ever been to a comic book shop or know someone who avidly reads comics then you will appreciate this sort of thing (The geek chorus). I hope there are lots of aerial tricks in this show!

Anybody seen this:

By the way, in regard to the headline, Gotham is the home of Batman, not Spiderman.
And this sounds like a terrible idea for a musical.

This makes me want to bang my head against a hard object muliple times.
Yeash, why? WHY?
"If we don't live happily ever after at least we survive until the end of the week!" -Kermit the frog "I need the money... it costs a lot to look this cheap!" -Dolly P. "Oh please, Over at 'Gypsy' Patti LuPone hasn't even alienated her first daughter yet!" Mary Testa in "Xanadu" "...Like a drunk Chita Rivera!" Robin de Jesus in "In the Heights"
"B*tch, I don't know your life." -Xanadu After that if he still doesn't understand why you were uncomfortable and are now infuriated, kick him again but this time with Jazz Hands!!! -KillerTofuChorus Member Joined: 5/17/04

MattBrain - "By the way, in regard to the headline, Gotham is the home of Batman, not Spiderman. "
Correct, but it says that the musical will "Take Gotham". i.e. Take NYC... where the reading is...
get it?

"I have to say, I REALLY don't like the idea of this mythical Spider Lady being involved in the plot...was she ever part of the comics?"
Wasn't she the lady who was in charge of that universe that dealt with time warps and such? I remember her from the cartoon show in the 90's.
edit; Yep, Madame Web first appeared in The Amazing Spider-Man issue 210. I don't know if that is the same person they are using, but whatever the case is, I'm intrigued by the musical. And fearful.

I just totally got why "Geek Chorus" is funny. I'm so so sorry. XD

Posted: 4/22/07 at 9:03amSo is this show going to definetly happen sometime, or is it all up in the air? If it becomes show someday, I'm wondering how many people would see it. Would you?

I'd totally see it. Partially because I think it sounds fun, partially because I'd like to find out the overall quality by actually SEEING the show rather than just reading about it, and partially because the more people diss a project, the more into it I get. I mean, some of the people here are the reason I love 'High School Musical' far more than I should, y'know?

Arm? ooo, too bad, it turns out Bono is a leg man. But if your willing to change, send your right thigh to

Adress it to "Stanly Onob". Include a SASE so that they can send you directions to the secret location along with a passcode.

Posted: 6/20/07 at 5:23pmYeah me I said it and I meant it. u2 is possibly the most overrated band of their generation. I love Julie Taymor, but nothing can keep this from becoming a rediculous specticale. It may succeed and make money, but it will never be "good" in the truest sense of the word.
re: Spider Man Musical- wth press release#44
Posted: 6/20/07 at 5:48pmThat bad huh? Did you at least stage door? How was the acting? I am sorry, but statements like that are ignorant and anti-art. I can understand being worried about a project being bad due to certain elements, but "nothing can keep this from becoming a rediculous specticale" is just stupid and against everything good art is about.
re: Spider Man Musical- wth press release#45
Posted: 6/20/07 at 5:55pmSorry if I gave the impression that I saw the reading, I didn't. I guess I shouldn't be so negative. Hell I'm one of those people who won't pass judgement until I see something. But I dunno, the whole thing just doesn't seem to have any redeaming value so far, outside of the Taymor involvement. I should probably back off. It's just that, god I hate U2 that much.
