The $30 million tour will have a traveling dome the size of two football fields and will have a week long stay in each city.
Thoughts?

It will probably be like the Batman Live tour or Walking With Dinosaurs

The headline's not accurate on this thread.
As others have pointed out, this is not a tour of Spider-Man: Turn off the Dark, but an "event" that truly sounds more entertaining then the mess on broadway.
If the show ever does decide to tour, I imagine it would have to be some kind of event/experience/arena spectacular, since few facilities have the space and time needed to ensure the production goes off safely each night. Honestly--is there any standard touring venue that could support this production?
Whoops! I was under the impression it was a touring production of the Broadway "show".
I don't understand the plan here. How many cities have lots big enough to just put up a temporary dome the size of two football fields with additional space for parking and the possibility of avoiding complete traffic flow interruption in a location reasonably accessible to a lot of people.
Hasn't Cohl lost enough money on Spider-Man ventures?

This is the stupidest thing I've ever heard. They might as well just build a Marvel theme park instead of taking this junk on the road. Also, why can't they just let Spider man have it's own US arena tour. I'm no fan of the show, but if the show is going on tour, it should be done properly.

If you read the article there is a subtext that I believe may be very important to why this is happening: Disney.
Disney bought Marvel, but that deal doesn't allow for many of the Marvel characters to appear in their theme parks. This is because of an earlier exclusive contract with Universal and their building of Islands of Adventure's, Marvel Super Hero Island.
This is an opportunity for Disney to legally exploit their recently acquired property. Its a win win for everyone as long as we, the potential audience, are compelled to attend their tour and spend the necessary $$$ to make it financially successful.
What I find the most "disturbing" about this proposed project is the relatively low cost to produce this: A dome the size of 2 football fields, a live performance with multimedia technologies, a simulator ride... I'm assuming shopping and eating opportunities, etc. At $30M this sounds like its being done very inexpensively. A Disney simulator that is travel ready could have a price tag of 2 times that alone. Perhaps the $30M is just for the show. Anyway, I hope so.

Cirque du Soleil does it all the time.

I'm not sure if the Cirque du Soleil set up is the size of 2 football fields.
Feld Entertainment (Ringling Brothers and Barnum & Bailey Circus, Disney on Ice, etc.) has also announced a Marvel Universe Live superhero arena tour.

Hopefully, that the producers of Turn off the Dark is just producing this crap and that an actual US tour of Turn off the Dark is coming.
