Spiderman casting his web in New York

Spider-Man, Turn Off the Dark — the eagerly awaited new musical about the Marvel comic books hero — will begin previews at Broadway's Hilton Theatre Jan. 16, 2010.

Directed by The Lion King's Julie Taymor, the musical will officially open Feb. 18, 2010. Casting will be revealed shortly. (Evan Rachel Wood, who can be seen in the film "The Wrestler," previously announced that she'll star in the musical, but no official casting has been announced.)

EDIT: Yes Bono and the edge clearly are mad!

Sorry Matt, but i cant stand it when people get basic punctuation wrong (Because it's the only thing I can get right, and if I can do it, so can you!)

Both weez and Conaries forgot the apostrophe in 'can't'. Double picking on people without doing it correctly themselves!

re: Spiderman casting his web in New York

Its times like this I am ashamed to be a theatre fan! Spiderman? Seriously? Why? Why does this HAVE to happen? There is so many things that can be great source material for a musical, of all the things IN THE WORLD, SPIDERMAN? WHY?! Oh my god...

And the ! inside the brackets is acceptable! However the because shouldn't have had a capital B

Although I did require a friend's help with this extra info! lol (IM RELI SAD!)

re: Spiderman casting his web in New York

I'm better with numbers.

And I don't understand why the B in the brackets has to be a capital rather than a lower case letter?

And surely the explanation mark being inside or outside the bracket is a choice dependent on which part of the sentence CON wishes to emphasise?

re: Spiderman casting his web in New York

I wasn't doing this in a bitchy way, but putting punctuation after a space, is a big OBVIOUS error, which (especially as Musical-Matt is currently studying English A-Level) he should have got right!

Well at least now we're back to classic West End Board Behaviour, (Talking about something HIGHLY unrelated to musicals) this thread is actually good! YAY!

"this thread is actually good!"

Yeah - there's not much going on on the Broadway or Off-topic boards at the moment. Forgive me if I don't get excited about the two (count them) threads where the relative ages of the characters in A Little Night Music are discussed. Or the thread where the relative ages of the characters in Into The Woods are discussed - like the relative ages of people in a musical featuring magic beans and giants are that important.

Thats deffinitely gonna go down as one of the classic wets end quotes Scripps!

"like the relative ages of people in a musical featuring magic beans and giants are that important."

re: Spiderman casting his web in New York

re: Spiderman casting his web in New York

Punctuation's kinda like html; you have to close your tags in reverse order of opening them. If you start a sentence, and have some parentheses, then you finish the parentheses, *then* finish the sentence. I could've fixed the apostrophe as well, but I was more interested in being vaguely snide at CONAries than being wholly accurate, so I kinda didn't see that part. My bad. If I'd known you cared so much, I'd've probably had a bash at his grammar as well. ^_^

re: Spiderman casting his web in New York

The Edge wrote a fantastic score for the RSC production of 'A Clockwork Orange'. Though the subject matter is not terribly promising, perhaps we should wait and see before feeling ashamed of Spiderman. There are plenty of great shows which on the face of it seem like dreadful ideas- cannibal barbers anyone?

The official West End board punctuation thread

'Cos it's a smiley face, liebchen. And so is this: :3

My PC crashed. I wanted to say that you can emphasise what's going on in the parentheses by sticking an exclamation mark in there, but you still need to punctuate the full sentence once you've closed them (as I shall now demonstrate!).

But now that I have passive-aggressively made my point, I turn back to my original passive-aggressive point which was that it really doesn't freakin' matter, and those in glass houses yadda yadda yadda. ;D

MOVING ON! (Sorry!)

This musical does not exactly float my boat, but guess this will be visually stunning with Julie Taymor at the helm.

Good to see a big new show opening in New York after so many closures.
