What is that? I saw this character in the West End cast list of "Chicago". How strange that this character exists in the W.E. and not in the Broadway cast? from RC in Austin, Texas

"Noel [Coward] and I were in Paris once. Adjoining rooms, of course. One night, I felt mischievous, so I knocked on Noel's door, and he asked, 'Who is it?' I lowered my voice and said 'Hotel detective. Have you got a gentleman in your room?' He answered, 'Just a minute, I'll ask him.'" (Beatrice Lillie)

I think they are referring to the character who comes out before the overture and does the "all those things we hold near and dear" speech and takes the hat off the chair.

On Broadway, Melissa Rae Mahon (who plays "Go-To-Hell-Kitty") is the cast member who delivers the opening greeting. from RC in Austin, Texas
