Royal Caribbean announced yesterday that their newest ship that's launching next year, Hero of the Seas, is going to have The SpongeBob Musical as their live Broadway show.
The announcement has gotten a mixed reaction on social media, with some finding it a perfect fit and others saying it belongs on a Disney Cruise. (Obviously not realizing that SpongeBob is not a Disney property...) I think it's a great idea, personally. I saw the show in Chicago before it came to Broadway and, despite having not watched the show in decades, thoroughly enjoyed it. Given that the show has a song called "Hero is My Middle Name", I hope they use it in the Hero of the Seas advertising.
My wife and I will be sailing on Royal Caribbean's Star of the Seas at the end of February into March next year, where the Back to the Future musical is playing. I know the show got a mixed response on Broadway, but really looking forward to seeing it.
