I first saw Spring Awakening last Saturday. I loved it so much that i needed to see it again before I went home for the holidays. So I planned to line up at 9am for Student Rush tickets. Due to unforeseen circumstances, I got to the box office around a quarter past 10 in the morning and there were no more tickets left. The guy at the box office said they sold fifty that day and they were all gone 10 minutes after the box office opened. Really wanting to see the show again, I decided to pay $65 for discounted seats, first row front mezzanine, towards the left. They were pretty good seats and the show was amazing as usual. The audience this time seemed more enthusiastic about the show as compared to last Saturday. Again, the standing ovation began even before the cast came out for the curtain call. They came out at least 3 times before the audience stopped applauding.
But here's the really good news, at the stage door, I was briefly talking to John Gallagher and I mentioned how the student rush seats got sold pretty quickly. He said that over the past week, they've been playing to almost a full house. However, this Wednesday's show was the first sold-out show they've had and the first time they offered Standing Room tickets. This is a good sign and I hope this continues. Fingers Crossed, Spring Awakening will run way after the Tony's.
